Kids work

Parent and Child Area

The PCA team looks after the Parent and Child venue. As parents remain within the venue and are responsible for their children, this team is responsible for managing the practical running of the venue.

What will I be doing?

Unlike the other children’s teams, the PCA doesn’t involve teaching or running sessions for the particular age group. The Parent Child Area is a venue where parents can bring their 0-2 year olds during morning meetings and afternoon sessions. As a team member you’ll be keeping the venue clean and tidy, making sure that it’s being used by the right people and giving general assistance where necessary. It’s a practical role, one where you’ll be working in a team and is perfect for individuals who would prefer a stewarding type role but cannot make the time commitments of that team.

Is this the right team for me?

As part of this team it’s helpful if you’re someone who is friendly and happy to engage in conversations with those using the venue. Serving here has the added benefit of allowing you to hear what is going on in the main arena (due to the livestream) and doesn’t involve any evening shifts. It would also be a good fit if you’re someone with good attention to detail as part of your responsibilities will include keeping the area neat and tidy and relating any concerns you have to the appropriate team.

If you love seeing God engage and use kids in His Kingdom now, then 6-8s is for you. We aim to have a space where kids hear from Gods word, have opportunity to engage with Him and put in to practice the ways that He changes them. Helpers in the 6-8s will have responsibility for a small group of kids; joining them in worship, games, prayer, discussion and activities. We love to have helpers who are enthusiastic in helping kids engage with God and who embrace fun, silliness and gunge! This year, for the first time, 6-8s will be having an evening meeting. Morning meetings will involve teaching, encounter stations, musical worship, games, drama, craft and gunge! Evening meetings will be more of a relaxed pyjama party feel with creative worship, testimonies and games.

Is this the right team for me?

As a team member it’s important you’re able to engage with the kids, with a readiness to get to know them individually. The Ark

The Ark team run the morning sessions for children who have difficulty accessing the mainstream kids or youth work. Ark workers may also provide additional support for children requiring support to access the mainstream sessions.

What will I be doing?

In the Ark all the children have a 1:1 person to support them. So you would have a child to look after and support. You will also be helping them with the different activities on offer as well as helping them to engage in the teaching and worship times. Another part of this role is supporting young people in their mainstream venues so you may not actually be in the Ark building.

Is this the right team for me?

Some experience of working with children with disabilities is a bonus if you’re looking to serve in this team, but isn’t essential. What is important is that you are willing to be flexible and to change plans and support in other venues when needed. It’s also a great team if you’re looking for somewhere to get stuck in and make a difference. The Ark can be quite a chilled out environment and a really rewarding one if you’re passionate about seeing children grow in their relationship with God.
