India is the seventh largest country in the world and yet has a population of over 1.1 billion people, and perhaps more human need than any other nation in the world. It has 2553 people groups, 88% of which are unreached (Operation World 2012).
We have enjoyed an on-going relationship with the growing number of churches in India for many years, and there are over 40 churches that relate to Commission.
Training of leaders is a priority for the Indian churches and the team have developed a number of training initiatives across the country. The latest of these is the residential training school for leaders based in Bangalore. .
There are a number of ministries to the poor which have been established in the Indian churches including work amongst those with HIV/AIDS, a residential home for the elderly, and many other smaller church based ministries. We have also helped develop the Foundations for Farming initiative in India (see below).
On many occasions we have had the pleasure of Indian church leaders come over to the UK to serve us at Westpoint and other events.
We also send short term mission teams to partner with various Newfrontiers churches in India to serve in different capacities from serving at conferences to teaching in schools and getting involved with ministries with the poor.
