Media Workshop

Sat 13th October 2018

Price: £10

Location: Hope Church, Winchester, UK

Time: 9:30 – 16:00

Speaker(s): Natalie Williams

What is it?

We’re running a full day workshop that will help you to build a mutually beneficial relationship with people working in the media, and equip you to handle press enquiries with wisdom and authenticity. As churches we have a huge opportunity to be a voice for good in the media, and the training will unpack how this can be done well and with ease.

The workshop will seek to answer the following questions:

  • How can you increase the chances of local media covering your events?
  • Don’t journalists just want to trip you up?
  • How can you become a port of call for reporters when big local news stories break?
  • What happens when they want your views on controversial subjects?
  •  How do I get better coverage for my church/project?
  • Should you ever say ‘no comment’?

We are delighted that Natalie Williams is the speaker for the workshop. Natalie has an MA in Political Communications and has worked as a journalist on national and regional newspapers both in the UK and in Beijing, China. She now splits her time as a Communications Manager for King’s Church Hastings and Jubilee+. She is the co-author of the highly influential book Church for the Poor, and is becoming widely recognised as a champion of social action.
